Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR started its journey with a DIPLOMA in Pharmacy course in 1964 at Kashmere gate polytechnic and later it was there in PUSA campus with induction of B.Pharmacy course in 1972 running in a school building, later on in 1979 it has been shifted to the present lush green campus of 10.5 acres at Pushp-vihar , In the meanwhile in 1978 M.Pharmacy was started in two streams i.e. Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, where in 1982 Hospital Pharmacy, in 1996 Quality assurance , in 2008 Pharmaceutical chem. and Ph Management were also added up as streams of M .Pharmacy. M. Pharmacy in Herbal drug technology is likely to be started in academic year 2009-2010. Two years back we started Ph.D programme under stipendiary category.
Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR is one of the best Pharmacy Institute in India, with strength of approximately 500 students, situated on a beautiful 10 acre campus in South Delhi. Started in 1964, as Department of Pharmacy of the Kashmere gate Polytechnic for imparting Diploma education in Pharmacy. Institute has moved to the present campus in 1979. Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR awards Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Pharmacy under University of Delhi, in addition to D. Pharmacy course.
B Pharm. and D Pharm. students were welcomed to the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR institute on the occasion of orientation Programme at DIPSAR, auditorium. Director, Prof. (Dr) S. S. Agrawal gave all the new students a welcome address and introduced them to the faculty, administrative staff, laboratory assistants and office employees of DIPSAR. He congratulated the freshers for joining a premier Pharmacy institute and for taking up a highly successful career in pharmacy.
It is the only Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR Institution of Pharmacy in India where the faculty members are selected through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Govt. of India. It is funded by Govt. of NCT of Delhi, and is affiliated to University of Delhi. The Institute imparts Master's degree in various specializations viz. Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Hospital Pharmacy and Quality Assurance. The Institute has submitted proposal to University of Delhi for starting four new M. Pharm Courses i.e. Pharmaceutical Management, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharma Regulatory Affairs, Herbal Drug Technology & Clinical Research for the academic session 2006-07 and also in the process of getting approval of AICTE.
The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR campus encompasses the Institute building with a well-established library, a Herbal garden, a utility block consisting of Food court, shops. Gymnasium, indoor games facility etc. Two Hostels, a sports complex, a Guest house, and 37 residential Quarters for the staff and a multipurpose hall. The construction of a Swimming Pool & 8+ I storey P G block is going to start soon. Allotment of 50 Acres of land for extension of DIPSAR is in the pipeline. The institute has patented/applied for 14 patents which are in the process of licensing to National/Multinational Pharmaceutical Industries through National Research & Development Corporation, Govt. of India.
The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR is maintaining an outstanding record of academic excellence. Majority of the students Qualify GATE with flying colors every year. This year, too, 22 students have secured more than 95 percentile marks; out of them thirteen have secured more than 99 percentile marks.
Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR has been identified as a Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) cell by AICTE for continuing Pharmacy Education to teachers of various colleges of India to upgrade their knowledge and skills besides admitting them for career advancement in various disciplines of M. Pharmacy and Doctorate Programmes. All B. Pharm & M. Pharm & Ph. D, students are placed in National & International Pharmaceutical companies / Institutes through campus interviews well before the declaration of their results.
Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR’s library has taken a giant leap forward in the area of Library automation. The DIPSAR library is now digital and has completed its Bar-coding Project The institution library (fully air-conditioned) is a knowledge centre which has rich resources of all the books. It has a carpet area of about…..square feet. It is the hub of all academic activities. All students, faculty members and employees of the institution are eligible for membership of the library. The registered members are issued borrower’s ticket corresponding to their entitlement. Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR library issues bar-coded library identity cards for its members.
The CIL constitutes the heart of the cooperative research activities at the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research-DIPSAR Institution. This facility houses many sophisticated specialized equipments for research work of students and researchers.
A new UG and PG block has been created along with the existing ones. A new solar geyser system is also equipped and is working in both the UG and PG blocks of Girls hostel. Mrs. S.Latha and Mrs. Manju Vyas has been serving as the wardens of PG and UG sections respectively.
A new building is established in front of the existing B.D.Miglani Boys hostel. A mess has been constructed in the first floor which is ready to use. Also a fully air conditioned study room and an IT room will be available in the upcoming months. To avoid short circuits all the rooms of old boys hostel is connected with MCBs.Dr. Sharad Wakode has been serving as the warden of both the boys hostel.
