Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has on its rolls about 5000 students, from every nook and corner of India and abroad. They can choose to study from 15 postgraduate and 24 undergraduate courses. M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Environmental Science have been started from the current session 2009-2010. The college also has the unique distinction of being the only postgraduate college in Haryana to have been honored with A+ grade by NAAC. The UGC has also awarded the college with Potential for Excellence status to the college for its outstanding achievements.
Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar was established to commemorate the quincentenary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Birthday in 1968, college has risen to be a center of excellence in education and sports. Initially intended to be an ideal center of learning where the young learners could be trained in the true spirit of our ancient culture, it has sought to synthesize the best of traditional and scientific values among Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar students. Since its inception the institution has been deeply committed to the propagation of nationalism, patriotism and secularism. In 2004-2005 Kurukshetra University declared it the over-all Best Non-Government aided college of the University for its Remarkable Achievements in academics, sports, cultural activities, and research and extension activities during the year 2003-2004. The Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar also holds the unique distinction of earning A+ grade from NAAC, an autonomous body of the UGC for accreditation of the colleges in the country. We say it with pride that we are the only post graduate college imparting general education to get this prestigious grade from NAAC in the entire state of Haryana.
In 2006, the U.G.C. awarded us the status of a Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar with potential for excellence. Following this, the college has received a grant to the tune of Rs. 60 Lacs for strengthening it’s infra structure and creating better teaching and learning conditions. We have well equipped, modern labs to give hands-on practical training to our students in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Bio-chemistry, Bio-technology, Industrial Micro-biology, Computers, Statistics, Information Management, Sports & Physical Education, Commerce and English. There is also a central computing facility with wi-fi internet access where students and teachers can engage in on-line learning.
The Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has an air-conditioned Seminar Hall with seating capacity of 100 persons. It is fitted with excellent audio-visual equipment like LCD projector, OHP and a white board to facilitate presentations and seminars. We are setting up another air-conditioned Seminar Hall with a capacity for 50 persons. The College has independent common rooms for boys and girls. Each common room has a seating capacity of 100 students and has attached toilet facilities. For recreation of the students the common rooms have T.V. sets, indoor games, newspapers and magazines.
The newly built Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar Canteen has a seating capacity of 150 students where they can enjoy North Indian and South Indian delicacies. We are going to setup another canteen block and recreation centre for students in the near future. The college has a well-furnished big Audio-Visual Hall with a seating capascity of 120 persons. The Hall is fully equipped with modern Audio-Visual equipment like LCD projector, OHP, T.V. set, DVD Player and public address system. Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has a large collection of educational softwares and films which are regularly shown to students. We have also set up an EDUSAT terminal to enrich our students' learning through Video-conferencing.
The college has a well-equiped, state-of-the art multimedia English language learning laboratry to impart practical training in communicative English. Another lab has been created with 10 computes and wi-fi internet access to give students opportunities for on-line language learning. The Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has a very beautiful Devki Devi Jauhar four-storey Girls' Hostel on the very campus of the college. It was built at a cost of Rs. 55 lakhs in 1997 and it houses 160 girls. It has all the modern boarding and lodging facilities and has a hygenic mess for students.
The Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has three platoons of Army Wing with strength of 160 boys and 54 girls. Dr. (Major) Harinder Singh Kang and Dr. (Lt.) Amrit Kaur are looking after the boys and girls wings of NCC respectively. Both these officers have passed their pre-commission course with ’A’ grade and won commandment medals during their training. Major H.S. Kang has received commendation certificate from Director General N.C.C., New Delhi. Lt. Amrit Kaur was declared the best lady ANO of Kurukshetra University.
Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Yamuna Nagar has produced 16 Commisioned Officers in Indian Army and some of them have joined Indian Army through the NCC special entry scheme. NSS unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa college organized a one day seminar on 14 Aug 2010 entitled “Youth and Independence of India” on the occasion (15 Aug 2010) of Independence Day in the college campus. Dr. Charanjeet Kaur, State Liaison Officer N.S.S. O/ O Directorate Higher Education from Panchkula is the resource person in the seminar.
