Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune was founded with the objective of bringing forth well-educated, informed and motivated architects equipped with ultra-modern skills, who can contribute towards building a humane society for the future by taking up the task of visualizing and designing for the human habitat with confidence and integrity. Primary objectives of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune are to ensure the highest level of academic standards along with the spirit of creativity and growth in every individual. It is the endeavor of this institute to establish and nurture a heaven of academic excellence, creativity and personality development in which the budding architects can thrive. Thus we encourage our students to look at the world beyond mere academics by providing a wider exposure through a series of guest lectures and workshops by experts in architecture and related fields. Perceptual sketching and workshop practice on one-hand and computer skills on the other are especially emphasized.
Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune came to life in the year 2000-2001 for nurturing the creative skills of talented students. To set their minds free and imagination soaring, the course is conducted in the picturesque locale of a hilltop. Experienced and expert faculty members, comprehensive syllabus and extensive facilities add tremendous value in enhancing the students' knowledge and creative flair to ensure all-round development of students by organizing seminars, workshops, tours and other extra-curricular activities all year round.
Teaching Methodology of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune architecture is a part of the overall culture and cannot exist in a vacuum. In order to develop the budding architects on excellent lines, it is therefore necessary to go BEYOND THE CLASSROOM and give wider exposure to the students. With this objective in mind, extra classes, guest lectures and workshops are arranged after the regular college hours at no extra charge.
In Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune architecture is an all-encompassing discipline and thus the education of an architect cannot be effectively accomplished in isolation from other related arts, crafts and sciences. The Sinhgad Technical Education Society already runs Schools, Arts Commerce & Science Colleges Polytechnic, Engineering, Management and Pharmacy colleges along with the Architecture and Interior Design Colleges. It is proposed to start departments of Graphic arts, Interior Design, Product Design and Fashion Design that would ultimately form components of an institute of design. Computer Lab of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune students updated on computers, an advanced computer center has been set up. It has sixty computers in computer lab and latest software packages like, Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2007 & Rivet Building 9, Archicad 9, Architectural Desktop, 3D Studio MAX 6.0, Cadian Arch 2004, Quick Heal Antivirus plus 2008. Studio of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune there are five exclusive studios with proper lighting and ventilation, storage and drafting facilities with a capacity to accommodate 40 students each. These rooms are very spacious to facilitate the students to work very peacefully. Audio-Visual Rooms of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune a dark room well-equipped with audio visual equipments has the capacity to accommodate all the students at a time. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students also have the opportunity to learn through the fascinating medium of audio visuals. Material Museum of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune an excellent collection of latest materials and equipment used in construction is provided. Students, thus get an exposure to handling them even before they actually step into their profession.
Photography of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune is already considered as the most powerful technology for documentation and presentation of the architectural works. To give the exposure to the advanced systems and to develop the skills, experts in this field are invited for guiding the students. Laboratory of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune well-equipped with cameras: 35 mm SLR, KB 10 manual as well as automatic ones. A dark room is also provided. We are purchasing a movie camera and LCD projector this year, to enable students/staff to produce and view a digital movie. Together these facilitate in the making the students thoroughly competent at photography.
Placement Cell of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune has always focused on co-curricular activities, site-visits and workshops. We believe that theoretical knowledge imparted during the five years of the Degree in Architecture needs to be coupled with practical know-how when the student reaches the threshold of his/her professional career. We would like to see each student to be able to face real life challenges and become a success story in his/her own right. The primary activity of the Placement renowned Cell will be to facilitate students to be placed with well established Architects. For this purpose, a database of the prospective employers and the passing students will be continuously maintained. The backbone of the Placement Cell will be the Alumni Association of Sinhgad College of Architecture – SCOA Pune. It will be this network of alumni, which will serve as the foundation and guiding light for fresh Architects. The following are hereby nominated as committee members of the Placement Cell.
