Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education - Tarn Taran dedicated to the 500 Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was established in 1970. Sri Guru Angad Dev College Society, Khadur Sahib came in to existence as registered educational society under Societies Registered Act XXI of 1860. It was registered in the office of the “The Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, Punjab” on March 09, 1970 and its registration No. is 129. Under the administration of these 37 years historic society two colleges and six schools are working successfully.
Inspired by the mega success of these institutions, the historic Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education - Tarn Taran Society (Regd.) in its resolution No. 42 dated Nov. 21, 2003 resolved to establish Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education Khadur Sahib in commemoration of 500 Parkash Utsav celebrations of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji. It was visualized over a sprawling campus of 6 Acres. The Punjab govt. very graciously granted N.O.C vide memo No. 14/114/03-3EI/9919 dated May 28, 2004. This paved the way of this new College of Education for the academic session 2005-06 with an intake of 100 B.Ed. seats. Northern Regional Committee Jaipur (NCTE) vides its letter no. F/NRC/NCTE/F-3/Pb-221/2005/6606 dated July 26, 2005 granted recognition to the newly established College of Education from the academic session 2005-06. On Aug 09, 2005 Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar showed much grace and generosity in granting affiliation to this College from the session 2005-06 vide letter No.5177/colleges Dated 09-08-05. The Govt. of Punjab State vides its notification No. 13/1/05-06 Edu.I/19269 dated Aug 11, 2005 accorded it approval for admission to B.Ed course from the academic session 2005-06.
The mission of the Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education - Tarn Taran is to achieve excellence in teacher education by producing confident, competent, committed and compassionate teachers comparable to global standards and the vision of college is to produce quality teachers with deep commitment to the profession in terms of both service to the community and contributing to expanding the teaching horizon through expert knowledge and specialized pedagogical skills, acquired and maintained through rigorous and continuing study with creative and innovative methods. The Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education - Tarn Taran visualizes synthesis of tradition and modernity; i.e. a balanced fusion of change oriented technology and continuity of our cultural heritage.
To inculcate habit of self study the college has a well equipped library, with more than 4000 volumes. Apart from text books, there are encyclopedias, research journals, monographs, dissertations (B.Ed.), magazines and news papers. The students are expected to make maximum use of the library. To keep the books in circulation and make them available to all students withdraw books will be governed by the following rules.
These books must be renewed after two weeks and four weeks by the students and staff respectively. When Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education - Tarn Taran students borrow the books from the library check them thoroughly, after you have got them issued in your name then it is your responsibility to return them in proper form. Don’t underline the pages or disfigure them. Disfigured books will not be accepted by the Librarian and you will have to replace them. Each student will be issued a library cum identity card, which the students will always keep in person. In case this card is lost, duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.50.
