Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune is the Administrative Training Institute of the Government of Maharashtra, and meets the training needs of government departments and rural and urban non-officials and stakeholders. The Academy has been certified as an ISO 9001:2000 organisation for design and conduct of training, research and documentation activities to support development administration.
Human Resource Development has traditionally been one of Maharashtra's major strengths. The importance of evolving sound and responsive administrative systems was realized as far back as 1963 when the Administrative Staff College (ASC) was established in Mumbai. The ASC was relocated at Pune in 1984 and renamed "Maharashtra Institute of Development Administration" (MIDA). MIDA, constituted as an autonomous society under the Societies Registrations Act, 1860, was to serve as the apex body for promoting and developing modern management practices and was to function as the nodal state level training institute in the field of development administration. Aptly enough, it was renamed Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune in 1990, as a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the late Shri Y. B. Chavan, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra & Deputy Prime Minister of India, who had inspired the setting up of the ASC.

College is now in the process of updating the Plan as it proceeds with operationalization of TQM.

Library of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune mandate is to support the ongoing training programmes, research projects and cater to the documentary as well as informational requirements of the participants. During last couple of years, YASHADA library has grown both in volume and in importance. 9712 number of books were issued out and 9410 books were returned by the users. Apart from books in circulation library is also being used for reference and selective reading material for various training programmes.
The Academy campus of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune which is situated adjacent to Raj Bhavan Complex on Baner Road is located at the distance of 800 meters from the Pune University Gate. It is easily accessible by road from Shivaji Nagar and Pune Railway Stations, which are at a distance of 4 and 7 kms respectively from the campus. Pune airport is located at the distance of 14 kms. The campus has been designed and equipped to provide appropriate infrastructure and facilities required for the smooth functioning of the Academy, as well as to create conducive atmosphere for research and training.
Hostel Facility of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune three well-equipped hostel blocks offer comfortable accommodation to trainers and trainees alike at the Development Administration Complex. The Shamee hostel has 31 double-seated rooms and 8 VVIP and 11 VIP suites for important dignitaries, while Durva Hostel houses 56 double occupancy rooms. Suvarna-mahotsavi (Jubilee) hostel block has capacity of 29 double occupancy rooms. Residential accommodation for faculty members and staff is available in the quarters located within the campus. Besides enabling closer interaction among trainees, in-campus facilities helps them to participate fully in sports, yoga and any extramural activities organised on specific occasions.
Classroom Facility of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration – YASHADA Pune there are well-furnished classrooms, conference halls and seminar room, equipped with comfortable seating arrangements and sophisticated audio- visual facilities required for executive and adult learning. Audio-visual Cell maintains and provides a wide range of audio visual equipment including, display boards, screens, overhead projectors, liquid crystal display system, digital photography cameras, audio-recorders, video cameras and LCD TVs, DVD and CD players and computers etc during seminars, conferences, workshops and training courses.
