Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri is an Islamic sufi scholar and a Pakistani politician. He was born on 19 February 1951 in Jhang, Pakistan. Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri is also the founding chairman of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and author of various books. He entered politics with the launch of his political party Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in May 1989. He resigned from Pakistan national assembly on 29 November 2004. Tahir ul Qadri is also the founding chairman of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, an Islamic organisation claiming to represent a moderate vision of Islam and Sufism.
