Her Majesty’s Chief
Inspector of Prisons for England and Wales is an independent inspectorate and head of HM Inspectorate of prisons. He is the senior inspector of prisons and reports on conditions for and treatment of those in prison. The Justice security from outside the Prison Service for a period of five years appoints the HM Chief Inspector of Prisons. On the analysis of prisoners, arrangement in prisons and other conditions as directed by the Justice Secretary, the chief inspector directly reports to the Justice Secretary and Ministers. To examine all immigration removal centres and holding facilities, the inspector of prison has a permitted responsibility.
