Justice Markendey is the the Chairman,
Press Council of India and the former Judge of
Supreme Court of India. He was born on September 20, 1946 in Lucknow, India. He has also served as a Chief Justice of Delhi and Madras
High Court and acting Chief Justice of
Allahabad High Court. He did his LL.B from
Allahabad University in year 1967 and practiced in Allahabad court from year 1970-1991. He served the Indian
Judiciary for a period of twenty years and retired from his service on September 19, 2011. He disposed off more than hundred matters in a week and his courtroom was one of the fastest in the Supreme Court. He is also the author of many books and articles.
