AKB48 is a Japan based idol girl group originating from Akihabara, Tokyo. The age of the girls in the AKB48 Group ranges from early teens to mid-20s. The group is produced by Yasushi Akimoto and came into existence in 2005. AKB48 performs at the theater daily and is one of the highest-earning musical acts in the world. To reduce the load on its members and to perform in several places and or countries simultaneously, the Group is split into several "teams" viz. Team A, Team K, Team B and Team 4. AKB48 has been felicitated with many awards like Top Pop Artists(2011), Hot 100 of the Year (2011), Best Asian Artist Japan (2012), Grand Prix (2012) etc.
