Akira Suzuki is a well known chemist of Japan. He is best known for the Suzuki reaction. He was born on September 12, 1930 in Mukawa, Hokkaido, Japan. Akira was given the Noble Prize for his contribution in the field of chemistry in the year 2010. He was also awarded with Person of Cultural Merit and Order of Culture in 2010. The H. C. Brown Lecture Award was given to him in the year 2000. Akira Suzuki earned a Ph. D from Hokkaido University and also served as an assistant professor over there. In the year 1994, Akira Suzuki retired from the Hokkaido University and went to Okayama University of Science to render his services and after that served Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts from 1995- 2002.
