Amr Hamzawy was born on 26 October 1967 in Minya, Egypt. He is a human rights activist, political scientist and public intellectual. Amr Hamzawy was elected as the Member of Egyptian Parliament for Cairo—Heliopolis constituency in 2012. He has also served as the research director of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and was a spokesman for Board of Wise Men during Egyptian Revolution. Amr Hamzawy is the member of Freedom Egypt Party and has published many books which include Civil Society in the Middle East, Between Religion and Politics and Islamists in Politics.
