Arthur Scargill is an English politician. He was born on 11 January 1938 in Worsbrough Dale, West Riding of Yorkshire and is also a trade unionist. Arthur Scargill is the founder of the Socialist Labour Party and the former General Secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers. He joined the National Union of Mineworkers in 1957 and is widely known for organising the miners' strike in 1970's. Arthur Scargill has also been a member of Labour Party and Young Communist League.
