Hanan Daoud Khalil Ashrawi is a renowned legislator, activist and scholar from Palestine. She was born on October 8, 1946 in Nablus. Hanan Ashrawi has done bachelor's and master's in literature in the Department of English from American University of Beirut as well as Ph.D. in Medieval and Comparative Literature from the University of Virginia. She has the distinction of being the first woman elected to the Palestinian National Council.
