Abdul Qadeer Khan is a Pakistani nuclear scientist and a metallurgical engineer. He was born on 1 April 1936 in Bhopal, India. He is the founder of HEU based Gas-centrifuge uranium enrichment program. Abdul Qadeer Khan has been honored with Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the higest civilian award of Pakistan, and Nishan-e-Imtiaz. He also founded the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) in 1976. Abdul Qadeer Khan has made major contributions in metallurgical science.
