Envisioned to “nurturing in the students a spirit of self learning by infusing creative and critical thinking” Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly was been established in 2003 by Ananda Educational Development and Charitable Organization (AEDCO) a charitable trust under the chairmanship of Prof. Jagannath Banerjee, an alumnus of I.I.T. Kharagpur and I.I.M Calcutta.
It is not only the number of years that counted alone. Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly has attended zealous maturity in mere seven years time and has achieved reputation for its academic standard, examination system and campus placement. It has already established that Academy of Technology is not just mere addition to the growing list of private engineering colleges in West Bengal. Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly are committed to maintain an academic environment where teaching-learning is enjoyable, where enough space is there for independent thinking and creative urge, where scope is there to cultivate and sustain the vitality of campus social and cultural life with honor.
The vision of the Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly is to Aspires to be a pre-eminent deemed university of national standing in education and innovation. The Institute is located at Aedconagar on the side of G. T. Road (Adisaptagram) in the industrial region of Hooghly under Kolkata Metropolitan Development Area, West Bengal and within 4 Km from Bandel railway Junction. Again the Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly is only two hundred meters away from Adisaptagram railway Station then next station to Bandel on Howrah-Burdwan main line (Eastern Railway). It is only 47 Km away from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata Airport).
The lush green campus of Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly spread over an area of acres. The state-of-the art infrastructure measuring built up area 180,000 sq. ft. has been developed as a modern piece of architecture blended with the environment. In order to sustain and maintain standard in teaching, following under graduate and post graduate academic departments have been set up to serve the curricular requirements in its totality. Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly runs the Boys-Hostel in tie up with Mr. Dilip Dhar having a total accommodation of 125 Students. The Institute runs the Girls-Hostel in tie up with Ms Balaka Bhattacharya having a total accommodation of 100 Students.
A transport facility has been also provided by the Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly to students. Regular medical health check up has been done by the academy health care department. The Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly strongly feels that leisure, recreation, games and sports, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are essential things to rejuvenate the energy of the students and therefore provides opportunity to express their skills, talents and creativity in different field such as Publication of Wall Magazine, Drama & Music Festival, Quiz Session, Group Discussion & Debate, and Arcadia-the Campus festival and Humatronics-the in-campus talent search programme are arranged by the students every year.
Games and Sports involve physical and tactical challenges, and the player’s precision and accuracy. Available outdoor games facilities by the Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly like Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, and Further Academy of Technology organize "Annual Sports Meet" every year. Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly offers different kind of Bachelor and Master courses leading to Engineering and Technology stream. Today the academic excellence alone is not sufficient, though essential, to succeed in ones professional career. Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly therefore extends all possible support to its students to acquire confidence, leadership skill, communication skill etc through comprehensive training program "Training for Improvement of Placement Skills (TIPS)" since 2004.
Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly Management experts, career counselors and other professionals are invited in regular intervals to lend their valuable advice to the students to choose the right track, best suited for each individual, and also to make them aware about the requirement of industries. Simultaneously, earnest attempts are also made to eradicate the weakness of the individual Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly student through counseling, and to make them competitive in the hostile global job market. Again the present looming global financial turmoil has exacerbated a global downturn and the crisis of this magnitude is bound to affect our economy adversely as it already has. The resultant effect has also adversely affected the campus placement activities of different Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly across India even in IIM and IITs. Looking into the tough employment scenario for fresh engineers AOT has already taken initiation to provide all possible support to train all existing student for Improvement of Placement Skills.
All Academy of Technology – AOT Hooghly students in small batches are sent to various industries and corporate hours during vacation. During these timings, they get first – hand experiences, which are otherwise beyond the scope of the curriculum.
