Sant Shri Baba Harnamji trust donated a land of 46 Acres for giving the name to Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded which is named after 10th Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singhji. It was steered by the Governing Board, with the Director of Technical Education at its helm. Prof. B.M. Naik took over as first full-time Principal in 1983. Since then the institute has grown leaps and bounds.
In 2004, Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded on the basis of a survey (conducted by a committee headed by Dr. F. C. Kohli, Chairman TCS) published in Business India (TOI), identified as an institute (one amongst three) with potential for excellence. The Government of Maharashtra took the initiative of granting autonomous status to select engineering colleges in the State under its TEQIP program. The SGGS Institute of Engineering and technology has the privilege of being one of the selected few to be offered total autonomy- academic, financial and administrative. In the Eligibility Criterion of NPIU, Institute secured 59 Marks out of 63 and is selected under TEQIP for assistance and provided stiff competition to other institutes.
Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded is located in Vishnupuri, Nanded. Nanded earlier known as 'Nandigram' is located to the southeastern part of Maharashtra State. Nanded is situated 650 Kms away from Mumbai and 270 Kms from Hyderabad. Nanded has a uniqueness of its own due to its historical, social and political importance. The tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singhji held his court and congregation here. This is the place where he recovered after assassins attacked him.

Library of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded is well-maintained. We have about 40,000 books and around 4000 bound National and International journals. More than 100 journals and periodicals are subscribed to currently which facilitates research in our college. Beside this, we have Book Bank Scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students and a Book Bank scheme for other students also on payment basis. We have a very good Reading Room, where users of the library can fine calm - the total environment is conducive to reading.
Hostel of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded have policy to provide 100% accommodation to girls. We also have a 4-winged Boy's hostel with a capacity of around 250 boys. More facilities are under planning. Bus facility of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded have a fleet of 5 buses to provide to-and-fro transportation from all major parts of Nanded city. These buses ply from morning to evening as per the Institute time-schedule. It is available to all with a payment decided by the Institute. Sports facility of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology – SCGS Nanded have very good sports facilities! We also have a permanent faculty looking after Sports Department, who is one of the well known sports person in this region Mr. Nandkumar Megde.
