Ramesh Nimmatoori, a young man who completed his Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science Engineering, rather looking for a career in industry or business thought of setting up an educational society. It was in 1989 that Aurora's Educational Society made a humble beginning by establishing a Aurora College – Hyderabad with four Departments, namely Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Electronics apart from one or two language teachers with 62 students registering in the first batch. The college was setup in a rented accommodation at Habsiguda, a suburban locality and later got shifted to Gandhi nagger, a very busy middle class area. It was in 1992 December that Aurora College – Hyderabad shifted to another rented premises in narrow streets of Chikkadpally in the midst of Hyderabad.
In 1993, Aurora College – Hyderabad added new faculties of Biological Sciences and Commerce. The student strength suddenly rose to 600 that year. There was no looking back. By 1998, Aurora College – Hyderabad alone had more than 2000 students studying in various branches. In 1995, the Aurora's Educational Society established a post Graduate College, which started two programmes namely, Masters in Computer Applications and Masters in Business Administration. In 1998, Aurora's marched to new heights when it established its engineering college in a sprawling campus of 600 acres. It had been a very aggressive foray in the business of education. Four other engineering colleges were established apart from two more post graduate colleges. Today, Aurora's happens to be one of the largest educational groups in the state of Andhra Pradesh with more than 400 faculty members and around 300 administrative staff and has more than 7500 students.
Aurora's – the name for Aurora College – Hyderabad is taken from the Latin work – Aurora's borealis – the famous northern lights – meaning sun god Apollo. The name has been chosen as it synthesizes the Indian and Western tradition of representing the sun as a symbol of knowledge and power. Education is a penance for knowledge and Aurora's treats it thus. The logo has three critical components. The Italian colors – Italic and wild pink; the Egyptian pyramid – and the letter A. Most importantly the logo represents the spirit of the college – i.e. the temple of learning.

Aurora College – Hyderabad begins the academic year with the induction program for the First Year. It is usually held in the month of July. In this event the first year students are inducted to the culture of the college, they are welcomed into the aurora family. Usually the events begin with a prayer song followed by the interaction of the various luminaries from different walks of life who share their rich experience and knowledge with the new comers. On this day the students are given handbook, T-shirt etc. the main idea of this program s to orient the students to the culture values and philosophy of the college.
Aurora College – Hyderabad has created a landmark in the history of Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions by initiating Theatre Culture. Aurora has left no stone unturned, be it the field of education, business management and many other professional courses and created history by introducing Theatre for the first time at the National Level for the UG students which is first.
