Devanga Arts College - Virudhunagar was established in the year 1970. Our College started to function with Pre University Classes with 4 sections, having the strength of 320 students. In the year 1972, from the UGC, the college was accorded recognition under 2(F) and 12(B). In the year 1995, the college shifted from its old campus to its new 40 acre campus. Since 1995, the college gained a new face lift in developing infrastructure that suite the needs of the students as well the university. In the year 2003, NAAC peer team visited the college. The college was accredited and Graded ‘B+’.
Devanga Arts College - Virudhunagar is sponsored by the Aruppukottai Town Devangar Commercial Association and Aruppukottai Town Devangar Moondru Mirasu Uravinmurai. In the year 2008, The State Government of Tamil Nadu decided o introduces the ‘Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)’ in all over the state at college level. Devanga Arts College - Virudhunagar accepting the norms and conditions proposed by the Government of Tamil Nadu keeping an eye on the autonomous status gets into this new structure from this academic year onwards. In the process of fulfilling the dreams of the founding fathers, the college carefully leads the society into an enhanced academic status to greater heights of academic glory and achievements.
Devanga Arts College - Virudhunagar is located at 801, Tiruchuli Road, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. The library will be kept open on all working days from 9-30 A.M. To 6-00 P.M. On Sundays and other holidays of Devanga Arts College - Virudhunagar which are also public holidays in Tamil Nadu, the library will be closed. Other than the weekly holidays, mid semester and semester holidays and state holidays the library will work between 10-00 A.M. and 1-00 P.M. The library will also remain closed during summer vacation. The library will work under the open access system. Encyclopaedias, dictionaries and other kinds of books which are in constant demand, costly books and such other books as may from time to time, be considered necessary for ready reference are placed in the reference section. Reference books cannot be taken outside the premises of the library.

As part of the Physical Education activities, Students are motivated to take part in the Intramural Tournaments and Annual Sports Meet. Apart from this, Students are encouraged to participate in University and District Level Tournaments and Inter University Meet.
