Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar was founded in 1993 when Padma Shri Fr. Romuald D'Souza moved from XIM, Bhubaneswar to create a center of learning and excellence in Goa. Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar has some of the best facilities available for students. The institute has one of the best IT infrastructures among business schools. It includes high end servers like IBM Netfinity 5500 & 5000. Common labs are used to learn advanced software. The entire campus is connected on optic fiber backbone with high end switches, which enables the students to get round the clock access to all learning resources from their hostel rooms. Being a young and developing management institute the library has a modest collection of over 7175 titles. In addition, it subscribes to around 165 Indian and International journals and has a tie-up with the University of Ohio, USA, which assists in the updation of titles. Annual reports of around 1000 companies, stock exchange directory and CMIE also form part of the library.
Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar provides well-equipped classrooms. Management studies come alive, aided by the visual and audio aids present in all classrooms, each being equipped with a television, video, projection and presentation equipments. The single chair seating arrangement helps in-group activity. The students compulsorily live on campus. This enables the faculty to design courses that demand much outside- of class, group work, which stretch the students to their limits. The students therefore have immense opportunities to learn to work not just in a single group, but in multiple groups simultaneously. They learn to work hard, to plan their time and to function effectively in a cosmopolitan environment. The Quadrangle is where games get improvised. It may be volleyball, cricket, football, dumb charades or just an animated round of gossip. This is the zone, which has get-togethers on weekends after a hectic week packed with assignments, quizzes, and live projects.

Over the years, Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar has earned the enviable reputation of being one of the finest management schools in the country. This year, GIM and its students weathered what is probably one of the worst economic downturns in recent times with aplomb. While placements in all B-schools around the country got badly affected, Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar did significantly better than most. As a placement co-ordinator puts it, "At GIM, we believe in long term relationships with our recruiters and they have in turn rewarded us for this." Over 40 companies showed an interest in visiting the campus to select the candidates who best suited their requirements. The final placements in 2008-09 featured a diversity of sectors with good representation from BFSI, FMCG, Consulting, IT/ITES, Telecom, Auto & Manufacturing, Market Research, Travel & Hospitality and the Pharmaceutical/Medical sectors. Major recruiters representing various sectors were Johnson & Johnson Medical India, HSBC, Tata Capital, Vodafone, Wipro Consumer Care, Wipro Technologies, UB Group, IMRB, Thomas Cook, Loop Telecom, Tata Motors, Novartis, Deloitte, HP, eClerx, Godrej & Boyce, etc. Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar received a total of 125 offers including 8 pre-placement Offers for 119 students.
Goa Institute of Management- GIM Ribandar has International linkages: Collaboration with the University of Antwerp & ongoing exchange programme, Secondment of three student from GIM to Antwerp for one semester, Secondment of one faculty from GIM to the University of Antwerp for a course on International Marketing and one faculty from the University of Antwerp to GIM for a course on International Marketing, Secondment of 15 students from Antwerp to GIM to conduct a project study in various industries in Goa, jointly with some students of GIM and to present the report to the University of Antwerp, Collaboration with the Fachhochschule Ingolstadt, Germany: An agreement has been reached to consider each other as an associate Institute with faculty and student exchange for one term. There is also an exchange of faculty in an agreed subject, Faculty & Student exchange with the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa.
