JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty was established in 1980 with the object of imparting quality pharmacy education in India. Initially only Diploma course was started and subsequently graduate, postgraduate courses and doctoral courses were added. The mission statement of the institution was redefined in the year 1990 and it was decided that the institution would strive hard to have a fully equipped Postgraduate studies and Research centre.
Today JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty is one of the largest postgraduate and research institutions in the country, imparting quality pharmaceutical education at graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The college has been successful in maintaining high level of research activity recognized at the national and international levels. JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty will strive hard to become centre of excellence in Pharmaceutical education and research and world leader in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences with the mission of strengthening the health care of the country.

JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty is housed in a peaceful campus over looking the green hillock Rocklands , Elk Hill Road. The college is 1 km away from Railway Station and Central Bus Stand. The Library supports the teaching and research mission of the College of Pharmacy and has got more than 9500 books & 2000 Bound Journals, 80 national and 15 international journals. Wi-Fi is enabled in the library to access internet. A well equipped and up-to-date Internet section with 20 Computer Systems with broadband facility available. Wi-Fi facility is also available.
Separate hostels for boys and girls are housed within JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty carriers with it obligations of conduct, both inside and outside the classroom. All departments viz. Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice and Phytopharmacy & Phytomedicine are having computer facilities with separate broadband connections. The College is having excellent labs with latest equipments to cater the needs of the students. JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty is having the excellent sports facilities and grounds for outdoor and indoor games. As a part of the university National Service Scheme, awareness programmes are conducted regularly at various villages in the Nilgiris District. The institution conducts National and International seminars regularly on specific topics by inviting eminent speakers from India and abroad.
To promote career counseling by organizing guidance lectures by senior corporate personnel and most importantly by the immediately placed senior students. Placement and Training Office at JSS College of Pharmacy - Ooty has the responsibility of facilitating the Campus Recruitment Programme. The Placement Office initiates and takes care of contacts with leading organizations for campus visits and is functional throughout the year. It endeavors to match the aspirations of the students with the needs of the Industry.
