Kaliabor College – Nagaon was established in Kuwaritol on 26th July in 1969. It has been rendering valuable service to the cause of spreading higher education in greater Kaliabor for the last 37 years. In the process it has created opportunities for the youths who became its alumni, giving them a sense of purpose and direction in the pursuit of their lives. Like its humble beginning, its initial goals and objectives have also been humbly achieved. It has turned out graduates who have become opinionmakers, leaders of the community and conscious citizens aware of the goings-on of the world around them.
As the only institution of higher education of the subdivision, theKaliabor College – Nagaon has to bear the responsibility of carrying out the hopes and aspirations of the public. The Kaliabor College – Nagaon has sincerely shouldered the responsibility and this fact has been recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which has awarded B++ grade after thoroughly assessing the over-all performance of the Kaliabor College – Nagaon. In the Post-Accreditation period also, the same responsibility and commitment have been evident in the various plans and innovations adopted by the Kaliabor College – Nagaon.
The Kaliabor College – Nagaon library has a collection of over 14000 books besides having subscription of newspapers, magazines and journals. The library remains opened from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during all working days. Students are allowed to utilize the library facilities like using the reference and periodical section as well as borrowing of reference books. Xerox facility is available in the Library at nominal cost.The library maintains a book bank for the benefit of the poor students. The bank issues books to the students for one academic session on the basis of the applications received to that effect. The Library automation process is going on.Additional library cards are issued to selected poor students on application.The Kaliabor College – Nagaon is introducing Best Reader's Student Award from this year for regular visitors.
The faculty members of theKaliabor College – Nagaon have completed four research projects and presently undertaken five minor research projects under UGC assistance. The students also undertake minor research projects as part of their curriculum. The cultural museum is one of the intergral parts of Kaliabor College – Nagaon. It has a sizable collection of specimens and artefacts as well as manuscripts of the past. The museum was established under the initiative of the department of history to keep the students constantly aware of the cultural heritage of Kaliabor as well as Assam.
