Mannam Memorial NSS College - Kollam is the 15th in the order of hierarchy of 24 colleges of Nair Service Society. It came into existence in 1981. It is named after the founder of N.S.S., Sri. Mannathu Padmanabhan. There are 1340 students on the rolls of the college, with 859 girls and 481 boys. The Staff strength is 78, including 41 teachers and 37 non teachers. Though Mannam Memorial NSS College - Kollam is situated in a socially and economically backward area, it stands first in the result of University Examinations among the first grade colleges situated in Kollam town. The elected representatives of the college Union perform their activities creditably.
Parent Teacher Association is highly active and dedicated to the all round development of Mannam Memorial NSS College - Kollam. The Merit Awards and prizes instituted by the PTA which comes to Rs. 40,000/- have been given to the selected students at the general body meeting of the PTA. The NCC unit of the college has 108 cadets. There is also an active unit of the National Service Scheme comprising 250 volunteers. College provides Bachelor Program to the college students.

The centralized computer lab with ample number of LAN computers has been set up in Mannam Memorial NSS College - Kollam. Short term course in MS office and Internet are conducted throughout the year for all the students to ensure cent percent computer literacy. For the students in Commerce stream, a course in TALLY is also run at a nominal fee. The fee collected is used for lab maintenance.
