Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College – Madurai was established in 1965 by the Nadar Mahajana Sangam is situated at the foot of the historic Nagamalai hills on the Madurai – Theni trunk road, spreading over 40 acres in a picturesque surrounding. The college was started in 1965 by the “Nadar Mahajana Sangam” with the encouragement of the generous donations received from philanthropic members of the sangam. Kodaivallal, kalvithanthai Thiru S Vellaichamy Nadar of Virudhunagar has contributed largely for the creation of this institution by his enthusiastic assistance in all ways. In order to perpetuate his pleasant memory, this college was named after him.
Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College – Madurai was inaugurated on 20 th july 1965 by our beloved leader ‘Bharat Rathna' Thiru K Kamaraj. Today this co-education citadel of learning has developed into a postgraduate and research institution aiming at imparting quality education with main emphasis on conducts and character development. Even though Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College – Madurai was started by the Nadar Mahajana Sangam, the institution caters to the needs of all the members of public without any distinction of caste, creed or religion. The mission of the college is to provide need based quality education, enhance the skills, competitiveness and employ ability of students, shape their character and make them responsible citizen of India and the vision of the college is to become a premier institution of higher education and to serve the community and the nation.

The object is to develop in the students habits of punctuality and sense of responsibility so that they may come out as worthy citizens of India. Any incident detrimental to the interest of the college will be viewed seriously. Crowding and indulging in undesirable activities near the college main entrance causing nuisance to public and traffic will be seriously dealt with.

Personal belongings such as bags, Tiffin boxes, notes, etc., should be left at the entrance of the Library. All UG students will be given 2 tickets, PG students 3 tickets and Master of Philosophy, student 4 tickets, PG students 3 tickets and Master of Philosophy, students 4 tickets, Books will be issued to students only in exchange to tickets.
Loss of tickets should be reported to the Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College – Madurai Librarian, who will issue duplicates on payment RS. 5/- per ticket. Books to arts and science students will be issued on alternative days. Books are usually lent for a period of 15 days. Books may be renewed for the further period if there is no demand for them from other students. Reference books such as dictionaries, encyclopedias and books labeled as reference will not be lent. Students should not damage, write or make any mark on any book or periodical belonging to the library. If a book is lost or missing, the borrower shall either pay 5 times of its cost of supply the library with a new copy.

Otherwise the borrower will be responsible for the damage. Tickets are not transferable. Sub-lending of books is also forbidden. Students should bring their identity card with them at the time of borrowing library books. Staff & Students should return all books borrowed from the library one week before the last working day of the academic year.
Lectures, debates, discussions, quiz, essay, elocution and several competitions are held in the Nadar Mahajana Sangam S Vellaichamy Nadar College – Madurai campus under the auspices of the Department Associations so as to nurture the students in their respective fields of study. Students are encouraged to participate in competitions arranged in neighboring colleges and by other local organizations. Inter-collegiate seminars are periodically organized by each department.
