Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science – Mumbai has well equipped laboratories for Junior college, Degree College and the Post-Graduate programme. The laboratories have been recently renovated with good lighting, modern fittings and locker facilities for students that are conducive to performing regular practicals at UG/PG level and other research purposes. There are two Food labs and two Chemistry labs for conducting foods and Bio-chemistry/ Food Analysis practicals at UG Level. Also, there is a research lab on the second floor that enables post-graduate students and research scholars to carry out their research work. The labs are reasonably well equipped to cater to the needs of the students.
Today’s need for acquisition of global information and rapid communication using Information Technology is being met by the Computer Laboratory. The Computer Centre is well equipped with 25 computers with a Network system (LAN). The centre also has facilitates for printing, scanning and writing Compact Discs. Here, the students learn various softwares as per the syllabus requirement.
A wide range of co-curricular activities organised in Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science – Mumbai gives the students an opportunity to develop their talents and serves as a medium for learning to conduct various events. Most of the activities are organised by the students and guided by the staff members. An event that is anticipated by the students is the NIRMAL UTSAV – it is an Annual College celebration comprising of competitions, workshops, talents shows providing the students an avenue to showcase their talents and skills.
At a time when there is increasing national and global health challenges as well as awareness to the concept of fitness, Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science – Mumbai has too extended its support to achieving fitness. We have ventured into establishing a gymnasium for students and faculty use. This gym houses both aerobic and anaerobic exercise equipments under the supervision of competent fitness trainers. The added attraction is the very nominal annual charges of only Rs.2500/-. Though at present the gymnasium is at a limited stage.
