In 2000, Philips purchased the assets of Optiva Corporation and made it a subsidiary by changing its name to Philips Oral Healthcare. 2011 was the year when the company decided to purchase the operations of a kitchen products company Preethi. Two years later, it dropped the word “Electronics" and became Royal Philips N.V. The company has sponsored and sponsoring various sports events and clubs including National Basketball League in Australia (also known as Philips Championship), The Balmain Tigers etc. An indoor arena Philips Arena, in Atlanta, Georgia is named after the company.
