Gentlemen:

I am beyond angry with American Express. I was a long term Blue Card Preferred member for a number of years (never made a late payment, always paid in full each month). After receiving several attractive offers in the mail for competing cards with no annual fee I wrote to you and asked if you would consider waiving the $95 annual fee on the card. I said that if you did not I was going to consider other cards. You immediately cancelled my card (without any discussion with me) and sent me a cryptic eMail informing me what you had done. I paid my final bill in full and made arrangements to obtain alternative credit (I have credit score in the mid 800’s). I am now working through the AMEX bureaucracy in an attempt to receive a check for the balance in my rewards account (more than $1, 900). After answering a host of questions I have been informed that I need to call back in three business days to once again claim what is legally mine.
