R V College of Engineering - RVCE Bengaluru is amongst the first private unaided colleges to be established in India in the year of 1963. RVCE is an independent institution under the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
R V College of Engineering - RVCE Bengaluru is run by the Rashtriya Shikshana Samithi Trust and is one of the leading engineering colleges in India and it has been recognized as a centre for excellence by the Union Government. The College has a campus on Mysore Road in Bangalore. The Campus of College is situated at a convenient location away from hustle and bustle of the city.
Within the campus banking facility is provided by Ing-Vysya bank. The ATM facility is also a boon to the hostilities and faculty. There are three mess facilities, one for first year and the other two for senior students. There are separate Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian mess facilities. The hostilities are provided with sports, gymnasium and browsing facilities.
R V College of Engineering - RVCE Bengaluru encourages the sports activities amongst the students by providing the infrastructure, coaching facilities, fee concession, free ship, attendance concession as per the University provisions, and priority in admissions similar to State Govt. policy at the management level. The College Library consists of a Central Library and 12 departmental libraries which together support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members of the Institute are allowed to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. The Library, besides having a vast collection of books on engineering, science and humanities offers library services through its various Divisions.

In 2008, the college ranked 8th in the "Top 35 Private Engineering Colleges" of Outlook India. In 2008, LiveMint, a Wall Street journal graded the College as the 6th best Indian Private Engineering college in its list of the top 30 private Engineering colleges. In 2009, the college ranked 24th in the list of top engineering colleges in India by India Today.
R V College of Engineering - RVCE Bengaluru offers both graduate and undergraduate program to the to the College student. It has three engineering branches i.e. Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. At present, the College offers 12 Under Graduate Engineering programmes, 16 Master Degree programmes and Doctoral Studies.

In 2007, R V College of Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IT companies Cognizant Technology Solutions to build up industry-academia partnership. In October 2009, Pace Embedded Systems opened an Embedded Systems lab at RVCE to teach and train the students Digital Television and Embedded Systems.
