Sri YN College - West Godavari was established in the year 1949 in Narsapur Town of west Godavari on the banks of river Godavari. It attained the status of the full fledged college in 1956 and has been elevated to Post-Graduate level in the year 1989-90. Sri YN College - West Godavari is a NAAC accredited Grade 'A' college. The Institute attempts to integrate class room learning with actual work experience in Industry or in the concerned professional field into a single educational process. Sri YN College - West Godavari was founded in the year 1949 as "THE NARSAPUR COLLEGE" BY SriYerramilli Narayanamurthy, an eminent Advocate and educationalist to cater the needs and to improve the facility of collegiate education in the Godavari Districts.His firm, undeterred and unflinching efforts won the munificence of the Govt. of Andhra State in transferring its sub-collector's quarters to house the college. The transferred quarters of the sub collector is a 300 year monumental DUTCH BUILDING situated in an area of 14 Acres on the banks of river Godavari and is a real picture of sylvan beauty and serenity. Now the age old Dutch Building surrounded by state-of-the-art blocks and buildings constructed from the U.G.C grants, present a unique picture of "Temple of Learning" in its real sense.

Just as from a tiny sprout emerges a gigantic banyan tree, Sri YN College - West Godavari from a humble size of secondary college has grown to huge structure of an institution offering nine P.G.Courses of study in addition to Degree and pre-Degree courses with a multitude of subject combinations and is recognized by U.G.C as a lead college in the Andhra University area. The college in 1967 was named after its founder as "Sri Yerramilli Narayanamurthy College" popularly known as "Sri Y.N.College".
Sri YN College - West Godavari has two state-of-the-art library buildings for Under Graduate(UG) and Post Graduate(PG) courses separately. The UG library is constructed in a plinth area of 4461 sq ft. it is equipped with an excellent collection of 50,000 books on Physics and Natural Sciences, Arts, Commerce,Literature and Linguistics. The P.G.Library,constructed in a plinth area of 6896 sq ft, has an excellent collection of more than 8,000 books on computers and. Electronics, Commerce and Management, Arts , Administration and Mathematics. The Library subscribes to many reputed Indian and International journals and magazines which provide latest information on various topics for knowledge enrichment of the students and faculty.
Sri YN College - West Godavari is conducting various seminars regularly in various subjects by inviting some of the eminent professors and other dignitaries to impart latest information, trends,technologies to the students. The main aim of the conduct of the seminars is to inculcate among the students the scientific temper, as well as to develop communication skills, social responsibilities and the like. All the departments are actively involved in the seminars and this will also enhance the attitude, skill and knowledge base of the faculty and students by providing update information.
