Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai was started by Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy Foundation in the year 1994 and promoted by Dr R Lakshmipathy, a doyen in the Newspaper industry. He is the publisher of the largest circulated Tamil Daily "Dinamalar". The college got autonomy in the year 2006 because of its successful functioning and placement. It also has books related to Competitive exams. Personality development, communication skills, fictions and digital contents on all subjects.
Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai is equipped with a sophisticated Computer Lab, which has a configuration of high performance IBM Servers and Pentium IV Workstations. The configuration is such that 60 students can work in each session. Latest Operating system platforms are installed for the students to have hands-on experience. The Lab will be kept open from 7.00 am to 8.00 pm for the students to work. Lab coordinators are appointed to assist the students while working in the lab.
A dedicated 1 Mbps Fiber optic circuit line is established in the Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai to provide Internet services. Our internet lab is equipped with Fat Server and Thin Clients architecture which exclusively designed for Internet Browsing. There are 60 thin clients connected with a powerful Server. The Internet facility will be available to the students on a nominal fee from 07.00 am to 09.00 pm. on all working days. Two Internet Lab Coordinators are available in two shifts for assistance to the students during Browsing.

It is supported with an LCD projector, Loud speakers and Sound systems. Most of our Guest lectures are arranged in the seminar Hall. A Technician is appointed for the effective maintenance of the equipments of the Seminar Hall.

Our students are trained in various games and provided with fitness equipments to keep their body fit and strong. Our college a has Basket-Ball Court, a Football ground, a Volley-Ball court, a court for the Shuttle, Tennikoit and Table Tennis. A Swimming Pool with a gym is also available for fitness of our students. A Physical Director and a Physical Directness are appointed for guiding the students in games and in their body fitness.
The Foundation maintains beautifully laid-out Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science – Madurai Hostel, offering single occupancy rooms for male students, with modern amenities . A separate Ladies Hostel is also maintained in the campus, where female students are provided accommodation on double occupancy basis. The student mess is functioning in the premises throughout the year, managed by the Foundation, administered by student committee, with charges payable on dividing system.
