Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai was founded in 1962 by the doyen of the South Indian textile industry, Mr. Karumuttu Thiagarajar Chettiar - a great philanthropist who also founded several engineering and arts colleges, polytechnics, teacher’s training institutes, and primary and secondary schools.
The initial objective of Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai was to provide quality management education for working executives and entrepreneurs. The success of this programme resulted in the inception of a part time MBA programme in 1972 followed by the full time MBA programme from 1986 onwards. With the phenomenal growth in the Info Tech industry, a full time MCA programme was added to the curriculum in 1994.
Right from inception, the Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai has firmly believed that there is no substitute for good education, and all available resources are used to provide each student with quality education and facilities. Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai is run by the Manickavasagam Charitable Foundation - an organization that has been actively involved in several primary and higher educational projects. Shri Manickavasagam Chettiar, the prime mover behind TSM, was its Founder Correspondent.
Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai prides itself on being one of the few institutions that does not accept any capitation fees from students seeking admission. The school is fully supported and funded by the Loyal Textiles Group - an export oriented textile mill with an annual turnover of over Rs.360 crores. The Group covers all deficits in the revenue budget, as well as the entire capital budget of TSM
Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai is a well furnished and self-sustained institution which houses a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 50,000 square feet of built up area. All classrooms are fully equipped with modern furniture, audio visual aids like LCD projector, Direct Overhead Projector and a Computer with Internet facility. The Institute also has air conditioned seminar halls with video conferencing facility, air-conditioned auditorium and central examination hall with a capacity to house more than 150 people.
A class room type computer lab offers excellent facilities for Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai students with the latest IBM Servers running on Windows 2003 Server and LINUX platforms connected to 120 intelligent Pentium nodes at LAN, apart from several individual PC's that provide hands-on training. Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai has excellent accommodation facilities for the students inside the campus. The institute houses a 100-bed hostel for men and 144-bed hostel for women on the campus. The classrooms, computer centre, canteen, and all other facilities are within walking distance of the hostel. The hostels also have facilities for various sports like table tennis, volley ball, badminton, carrom and chess. College offers Master of Business Administration and Master of Computer Application course.
Thiagarajar School of Management – TSM Madurai has a separate placement cell vested with the responsibility of facilitating in employment opportunities well in advance of the students completing their courses. The placement cell is efficiently managed by a full-time placement officer with active support from the faculty members and a separate student committee for MBA and MCA. There is continuing interaction with corporate houses by the placement cell, which strives to achieve 100% placement every year.
