The brand name Hero was introduced by Munjal brothers in the year 1956 that manufactures bicycles in Ludhiana, India under the name Hero Cycles Limited. The Hero Group (India) and Honda Motor Company (Japan) signed an agreement to form the Hero Honda Motors Limited in 1984 in Dharuhera, India. It established its Raman Kant Munjal Foundation (RKMF) in the year 1992 that controls the Raman Munjal Vidya Mandir and Raman Munjal Memorial Hospital.

Hero MotoCorp Limited is the two wheeler manufacturing company that operates its manufacturing plants in Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Haridwar.
