Laura Ashley was a Welsh fashion designer and businesswoman. She was born on 7 September 1925 in Dowlais, Wales and Died on 17 September 1985, aged 60 in Coventry, West Midlands, England. Laura Ashley founded the Laura Ashley plc, a textile design company along with her husband Bernard Ashley in 1953. Laura Ashley worked as a secretary for the National Federation of Women's Institutes in the early part of her life. Laura Ashley also served in the Women's Royal Naval Service in the 1940's. She married Bernard Ashley in 1949.
