Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere was established during the academic year 1979 - 80 with the initiative and foresight of memebers of Bapuji Educational Association on approval from govt. of Karnataka and is duly affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. At present the institute offers 12 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programs in Engineering and Management. 13 departments have been recognized as research centers and 12 departments have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi with effect from 19-07-2008. National River conservation directorate under the ministry of environment and forest, Govt. of India has recognized this institute as "Reputed Scientific Institute". Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere campus with modern infrastructure spread over 61.5 acres provides an excellent environment for learning and other developmental activities.
Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere has signed MOU with Infosys Technologies Ltd. Bangalore in the year 2004-2005. Campus Connect is a unique academia-industry initiative to “architect the education experience”. The objective of CC is to enhance the quality and quantity of the IT talent-pool; sustain the growth of the IT industry itself. It is intended to increase the employability of students.
The Library & Information Centre of the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere is housed in the Administrative Block & having two floors including ground floor with a two mezzanine floors, measuring an area of 3382 Sq.m. There are 15 staff members including Librarian working in the library. The seating capacity of the Library is for 775 users at a time.To cater to the needs of the staff/ students of the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere to have easy and speedy access to the library collection, the house keeping operations of library have been automated using Easylib software package. It has adopted open access system and maintains online public access catalogue (OPAC) to provide easy access to the stacks.
The Alumni Association of the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere was founded in 1989 with the presidentship of Late. Shri. Prof. G.S. Sivanna, Former Director of Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere. The association has been registered under Co-op Societies and has its own bye-laws (Reg. No. S.O.R. NO: 345:88-89). The accounts are being audited every year. All the outgoing students of the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere are being registered into the association after the completion of their degree.The Alumni association is conducting several seminars and workshops with the help of alumni who visit the campus. IIPC has active association with some of the premier institutions in the country like Indian Institute of science, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Specialized Training in personality development and entrepreneurship awareness and motivation, is being conducted by the IIPC on a regular basis. Training on programming and operations on CNC Vertical Machining center is being conducted regularly. The need for short term refresher courses for technical teachers and practicing Professionals have also been understood by IIPC.

StudentsÂ’ Council encourages the studentsÂ’ activities in the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology - BIET Davangere campus. In the beginning of every odd semester, elections will be held to elect the class representatives. These class representatives, inturn, will elect the executive office bearers such as vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary, sports secretary, magazine secretary, canteen secretary and lady representative. In order to guide the activities of the council, the president of the council, generally the principal, will appoint two senior faculty members as the staff convener and joint convener. The so formed studentsÂ’ council will carry out various student activities for that particular academic year.
