Government Polytechnic - Mewat was started in Jan.1992. This institute spreads over 28 acres of land in bush green area. The institute offers 3 years Diploma in Mech. Engg, Computer Engg., Information Technology, Office Management & Computer Application and 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy with total intake of 265 students.
Government Polytechnic - Mewat is situated in District Mewat in south- western side of Faridabad district and adjoining to Gurgaon district. The polytechnic is in minority dominated Mewat Area, Uttawar village is a prominent village of this area which is well connected by roads to Hodal (22 KM), Firozpur Zhirka (45 KM), Nuh (22 KM), Palwal (25 KM) ,Faridabad(60 KM), Gurgaon(65 KM) cities.
The objective of Government Polytechnic - Mewat is Imparting education and training to students at the level of regular diploma in a way to develop an integrated personality and well adjusted individual both in society and in their profession. To involve the students & faculty members in rural development and upliftment of rural community in the field of productivity, employment potential and life style for creating tangible environment through developments schemes and transfer of technology. To develop the staff faculty and other infrastructure it maintains to fill up the gap and to further upgrade the institution to meet the above objectives. This polytechnic is managed State Govt., Centre Govt, Haryana State Board of Technical Education, AICTE, PCI.
Government Polytechnic - Mewat is located at Uttawar, Mewat, Haryana. Each laboratory Government Polytechnic - Mewat has fully equipped with modern equipments such as U.T.M. Spring Testing machine, hardness Testing machine, Torsion Testing machine, vapour compression, Refrigeration cycle apparatus, Air condition trainer, 4 strake petrol and diesel engine cut section models and test rigs, T-70, CNC lathe trainer, VMC 200 milling CNC trainer and CAD Lab with server, latest version of computers, digitizer, scanner etc. In workshop various machine tools such as lathes milling machines, Geer hobbling machine, horizontal boring cum drilling machine, shaper, power hacksaw, CNC-lathe machine "Starten", EDM machine, Universally wood working machine, coupla, MIG welding set, Gas welding set etc. are purchased under World Bank Project scheme and are being used for students training.
The staff of Government Polytechnic - Mewat in applied science imparts instructions in the subjects of English, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry to students of Mechanical, Computer Engineering and I.T disciplines for the first two semesters. The staff looks after the interests of the students completely in the First year of their studies for their strong base and also provides active support to provide extra- curricular activities. College provides Diploma program to college students.
Government Polytechnic - Mewat provide placement facility. The students trained properly and best suited to the industries and the placement opportunities are good in the industries and Govt. departments. The faculty of this department is well qualified and experienced, 60 students are admitted in every year. Government Polytechnic - Mewat department is also looking after activities for rural people under community development programmes by providing training facilities in various fields at their door step and under Technology Transfer Programme.
