Rathinavel Subramaniam College of Arts and Science – RVCAS Coimbatore was established in 1986 which is offering career-oriented educational services leading to graduation, post graduation and research degrees in Arts and Science disciplines. Since Sept. 2004 the college has been granted autonomous status by UGC and for the students admitted from the academic year 2004-05 courses have been framed independently under autonomous system, reflecting the demands and relevance of the current youth generation. The design and development of the curriculum are carried-out by the respective departments of the college. The degrees are conferred by the Bharathiar University.
Rathinavel Subramaniam College of Arts and Science – RVCAS Coimbatore has got various departments offering 11 UG and 14 PG courses, 8 M.hil and 3 Doctoral programmes in Arts and Science disciplines. There are 3000 students and 145 teaching staff members supported by 39 non-teaching staff. The college is located in 20 acres of land with salubrious greenery scintillating ecological values. As a part of student exchange programme a team of the undergraduate computer science students of RVSCAS led by Mr. Vishnu Swaminathan, Director of Special Project and Prof. D. Francis Xavier Christopher, Director, school of Computer Studies, visited Leicester University (U.K) and attended a programme related to information technology from 08.08.08 to 13.09.08. The MOU has triggered the starting of a one year M.S course study on Information Technology for the year 2008-09 under an exchange programme.
