Rafi Ahmed Kidwai was an Indian independence activist , a politician and a socialist who died on 24 October 1954. He was born in Barabanki District of Uttar Pradesh, in north India on 18 February 1894. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai graduated in 1918 from Mohammadan Anglo-Oriental College, Aligarh. He was jailed for his participation in the khilafat and non-co-operation movements in 1920–21 and was released in 1922. He was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly of British India in 1926 and in 1935 when the Government of India Act was passed he held an office for the Indian National Congress. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai was married to Majid ul-Nisa, and had a son, who died at seven years of age.
