Smt.Jawala Devi Memorial Trust first started Cordia College for girls at Sanghol for the benefit of girl students who did not have opportunities for higher education in the absence of a college. Cordia College Sanghol was in the year 2001 that members of the Sanghol Panchayat and other eminent persons of the area met Lord Daljit Rana, an NRI settled in Northern Ireland, U.K. while he was on a visit to India. The deputation requested Lord Rana to establish a college at Sanghol for the benefit of students of the area. Lord Rana has a vision to provide world class educational infrastructure at this place so that new generation is able to march a head of times. The college in now a multi faculty co-educational institution. Beside arts course, the college is putting lots of emphasis on computer education and management courses. It has started BCA, BBA, PGDCA and M.Sc(IT) courses for helping students in getting suitable employment opportunities.
Cordia College Sanghol is situated on the Chandigarh- Ludhiana highway and is 40 k.m. from Chandigarh and 50 k.m. from Ludhiana. While going from Morinda to Ludhiana, it is at a distance of 8 k.m. Patiala is 55 k.m. away from this place. So it is a centrally located place on the main road. The institute is situated in a complex of nearly 12 acre plot. The institute has natural surroundings and healthy environment. There are enough grounds for different sports. The complex has its own pumping system to meet its water needs. Students will feel the touch of nature once he/ she enter the complex.
Objectives of Cordia College Sanghol - To provide the good education resources to the rural area students. Strengthening the relationship between the university and ?various sectors of the community and providing a suitable ?academic atmosphere to assume a positive role by utilizing the university's scientific and technical resources. Helping citizens develop their abilities by ?satisfying their educational and training needs through the ?programs provided by the college with no restrictions on ?age or professional experience. . Identifying the needs of the community and offering an academic plan that can contribute to ?meeting these needs. To provide students the opportunity to earn academic college credits for transfer to four-year institutions of higher education. To prepare students to make informed career path decisions and to develop workplace skills necessary to succeed.
Cordia College Sanghol campus which extends over an area of 25 acres of land is divided into various functional zones like Main Institution Building, Administration Block, Residential Complex for staff and separate Hostels for boys and girls. In addition to Lecture halls and tutorial rooms, the college has an Auditorium, Library, Computer Centre, Reading Rooms, Workshops and well equipped Laboratories, spacious Playgrounds, Gymnasium and Students Centre.
