Shri Ramesh Chandra Saharia a true Educationist born on the 1st of December, 1930 in a family of high tradition. With a uniformly good academic career since his school days, Sri Saharia took his bachelor degree from Cotton College, Guwahati and did his M.A. in Economics and LLB from Benaras Hindu University.Despite his high educational qualifications, Sri Saharia chose to be a teacher in the Tangla Aided Government High School. He served the Tangla High School as its Headmaster for fourteen long years till his entry into the State Legislative Assembly as an MLA, from Paneri Constituency, in 1972. During this period he devoted much of his time to spread of education and provided social service in the educationally backward tribal areas of Tangla. He founded the Tangla Girls High School and was a leading founder of Ramesh Chandra Saharia Teachers Training College – Tangla and President of Managing comitee and Governing Body.
The Ramesh Chandra Saharia Teachers Training College – Tangla a Co-Education and Non-Minority institute, Tangla was set up on the 14th August 1995 in the cherished memory of Late Sri Ramesh Chandra Saharia. Gauhati University had accorded permission to open the college from the session 1995-96 as per the Executive Council's Resolution No. 95/13/193(1) dated the 12th of August 1995 and further EC granted apporval vide EC Regd No. 2006/15/148(20) dtd. 16th September 2006 for session 2006-07.The Ramesh Chandra Saharia Teachers Training College – Tangla is recognised by the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE), Eastern Regional Committee ( A Statutary Body of the Government of India), Bhubenswar vide letter no ERC/7-61.5.1/2005/932-940 dated 24th of October, 2005 for an intake of 100 students.The main objective of the Ramesh Chandra Saharia Teachers Training College – Tangla is to provide teachers training and facilitate the development of education in the backward region of the Bodo Territorial Council area.

The college building area is 843.75 sqr. mtrs and completed on 8th February 2001.
