Swami Shraddhanand College was established in 1955. An educationist with a broad vision, he founded a few Gurukuls throughout India where students from all walks of life were taught by the Gurus in the lap of nature.
Swami Shraddhanand College is the first and foremost academic institution of higher education in the University of Delhi which is located in the rural suburbs of the city. It is located in the sylvan ambience of North Delhi. Beginning from the Gandhi Ashram Building nearly forty two years ago, it has made great strides to become one of the premier institutes of Delhi University.
Swami Shraddhanand College is dedicated to help the students to become mature and responsible citizens of tomorrow by providing an integrated and multi-disciplinary education that can help a student realize his/her true potential. The college has extremely qualified and dedicated teaching staff and is well equipped with specialized laboratories and a spacious library that has large number of books. There has always been an attempt of the college administration and teaching faculty to introduce newer technologies to its students, fully integrated with the University of Delhi Library Systems and website.
Swami Shraddhanand College is located in Alipur, in North West Delhi, and has completed 35 years. The college has extensive playgrounds which gives an excellent opportunity for sportsmen and athletes to participate in various games and sports and to improve their skills. For the linguistically-inclined students, the college offers courses in French, German and Russian.
Swami Shraddhanand College has a Library where students can read at a peaceful ambience. It also has a vast collection of books. Currently, over sixty thousand volumes are stocked in the library. Also, one can access magazines and periodicals which offer information on current happenings. Furthermore, for every subject, there is a society to stimulate the interest of the students in the subject and establish its interlinking with the society at large. The societies / associations sponsor lectures, seminars, exhibitions etc., and take on programmes and activities to make the subject more interesting and more relevant for societal needs.
