Janab A. Thangal Kunju Musaliar was a successful industrialist, philanthropist and a great visionary who played a pivotal role in contributing to the much-needed foreign exchange of the State. He earnestly upheld humanitarian values and laid the foundation of professional education in Kerala by establishing the TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam Trust in 1956. In recognition to his services to the nation, the Govt. of India released a commemorative postage stamp in his name. TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam is run by the TKM College Trust, pioneers in the field of education in Kerala, since 1956.
The TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam is one of Kerala's premier B-schools, located in lush green environs at Musaliar Hills, Karuvelil,Ezhukone, about 25 kilometers from Kollam city. Central Library of TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam is an outstanding learning resource center catering to the ever growing information and intellectual requirements of the students, faculty members and researchers. A balanced programme on the development of the collection, comprising of hard copy, audio/video, CD-ROM, and other electronic forms of documents is being followed in the library. The central library has one of the finest collections of latest management publications. TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam Library has two sections : General and Reference. The general section consists of a reading room , magazine section and E-Journal resource access area (fourth floor). Reference section consists of reading area, research section (bound volumes and project reports), book bank, reprographic area , Journal section and the general stack (fifth floor).
The central library has acquired over 9000 books. The books are classified according to the DDC Scheme of Library Classification and follows open access system. The Digital Catalogue (OPAC) of books is available in all the workstations in the LAN.The central library subscribes to around 106 print national and international and 2300 electronic journals (EBSCO Business source premier), along with a massive set of e-journals available through the open access initiatives in TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam Library.The Library uses the automation software “SOUL” for its operations; with a fully bar-coded collection and web enabled OPAC service throughout the Campus.
The Digital Library of TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollamis equipped with multi-media systems with dedicated broadband internet . More than 250 CDs and other electronic resources in all topics is one of the key facilities in the digital library with which the students & faculty members are exposed to the state-of-the-art technologies in the field of management. Other facilities incorporated to the digital library services includes online public access catalogue (OPAC), internet facility, smart card based bar-coded transactions, online reservation,cancellation, search facilities of library resources…etc.
The hostel mess serves as a canteen during the working hours of the TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam . The mess is wholly managed by a mess committee of student representatives and expenses are shared equally among the students. The hostel warden looks after the accounts and overall operations of the mess. Apart from the canteen, there is a separate cafeteria within the campus to address the refreshment needs of participants.Separate hostels for boys and girls are available. The picturesque campus provides a serene and homely atmosphere with round the clock access to all the facilities in the campus.
The TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam Computing Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and the latest management softwares. Management Lab is equipped with special software requirements like SAP, Tally, management games etc. Language Lab is one of the important components of management lab. Internet Station in the Computing Centre enables the participants to become computer savvy, update their knowledge and hone their IT skills.
Over the years, TKM Institute of Management - TIM Kollam alumni have come to be recognized as per placement brochure for their commitment and ability to add value to organizations, both in India and abroad.The campus selection is done normally during October to December and March to June.
