The erstwhile Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering, Murthal Haryana Government Institute was upgraded to Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat through an act of legislation dated 30.10.2006 issued vide Haryana Govt. notification No. Leg./33-2006 dated 6.11.2006. The location of university falls within one of the fastest growing industrial belt of Haryana. A store of good and latest information, library is the most important part of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat . Facility of book bank is provided (especially to SC/ST students) by the library. The stock of books available in the library does take care of all the requirements of students and staff. Not only the books on technical and non-technical subjects are stocked in the library but also the books and literature on religion, aesthetics etc. are available in quite a good number.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat library has collection of about 34434 books of various fields, 15 leading newspapers and 43 magazines/technical journals and e-journals are the prominent feature of library. Library remains open from 9am to 5pm .The librarian work closely with teaching staff to ensure that the relevant books, journals & electronic resources are accessible. At present, it is undergoing the process of computerization and subscription of online journals. Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat library provides students the facilities of six library cards which includes two semester issue cards and three cards on which books can be issued for fourteen days. Besides this the reference books can be issued for one day.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat provides excellent hostel facilities to the students. There are in total five hostels, one for girls having capacity of 150 girls and rest four for boys having capacity of 966 boys. All the hostels have their individual mess, club cum common room, guest room etc. One girls hostel of capacity 300 girls is under construction.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat hostels are provided with 24 hours electricity supply through special provisions. Besides this facilities of invertors have been provided in dining hall, club rooms, guest rooms etc. Adequate water supply arrangements for drinking and other uses have been provided. Water coolers and water purifiers have also been installed in all the hostels to provide safe drinking water to hostel inmates. University construction branch takes care of building and infrastructure regularly. Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat is known for its marvelous hostel buildings and premises, having lush green environment all around. All hostels have large size central courtyard, used by the students for casual chatting, games and sunbath in winters. Each hostel building is spread in large sized plots having three building blocks. Two residential blocks and central block having mess, kitchen, store and common room cum clubs.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat is known for its magnificent dining facilities in very affordable charges. Mess provides very delicious and hygienic food to the hostellers. Mess menus are prepared by the students. Mess management and procurements are also managed by the students themselves under the supervision of wardens, on purely no profit, no loss basis. Food raw materials are procured from Central and State Government agencies and from best available vendors/ shops of town. In case of illness, students are provided with the diet recommended by doctor. As per the requirement, students are also provided with evening tea as well as late night tea with snacks. Vending machines for tea, coffee, soup, cold drinks, are also being installed. All the hostels have their individual Common Room cum Club, providing ample space and facilities of audio-visual entertainment with L.C.DTV & audio systems. Every hostel has separate dish antenna, providing facilities for viewing all available TV channels.
Healthy mind resides in healthy body, keeping this in context, hostels provide ample facilities for various games and sports. Indoor games like chess, carom, table tennis are provided in common rooms. Facilities for outdoor games like, volley ball, football, badminton, basketball, cricket, etc. are also provided. Frequent inter hostel and intra hostel tournaments are also organized to motivate students to take part in sports and games. Billiard table has been added in K. S. Krishnan hall, which has become a star attraction. Small gym facilities have also been provided in few hostels, this facility is further being upgraded.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat provides best residential accommodation to its students. Students reside in single seated very spacious rooms. Rooms are very well ventilated, have individual balconies for over viewing magnificent greenery all around. Rooms have toilets in close vicinity providing comfortable use. Rooms and other hostel buildings are regularly painted and whitewashed and are maintained properly. Each room provides an excellent space for studying, resting and a very comfortable living. Every room is furnished with a bed, study desk and a study chair. All rooms are provided with ceiling fans and socket for charging Mobile/Laptop etc. All the hostels have their individual guest rooms to facilitate parents/relatives occasionally visiting students. In acute emergencies these guest rooms are also used when parents have to reside with ill/sick student. These rooms are also used for warden - students meeting, warden -parents meeting.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat has been developed on the modern principles of planning and architecture with separate zones for academics, residence and recreation. The University envisions facilitating and promoting technical and management education with special emphasis on. emerging research areas. The University further proposes to tie up with eminent national and international universities for research and higher education so that students and faculty may get the exposure to the complexity of the corporate environment and deliver effectively in different and difficult situations in a more altruistic way.
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat also provide bank facilities to all and sundry in the university. There is a branch of State Bank of India situated in the shopping complex which is at the stone throw distance from all boys & girls hostel and from residential area of teaching and non-teaching staff. All hostel fees and mess bills are deposited in the bank. Students can also open their account in the bank by a easy to follow procedure. The university has well equipped dispensary & all the student are provided medical aid at the dispensary within the available resources. Serious medical cases are send to Civil Hospital ,Sonepat .One male & one female doctor are residing in the Campus and a total of 4644 O.P.D. (Out Patient Department) cases were seen during 2003-04 session in the dispensary. Medicines and treatments are provided to the students free of cost.

The guest house is to facilitate the visiting of VIP Delegates, Company representatives and other visiting faculties. It is very spacious and bejeweled with all the amenities. The affairs of guest are operated under the guidance of faculty members as In-charge Guest house. Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat shopping complex is spreading over 1 acre piece of land having six commercial shops i.e. Cafeteria, Photostat and STD, Departmental Store, Juice Corner, Stationary Shop, Photo Studio. To facilitate the students there is separate building for bank and post office at the first floor of the shopping complex to provide mail and accounting.
At Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat there is provision to provide industrial training to the students of Bachelor of Engineering for 42 days each after the end of 4th semester and 6th semester examination, respectively. A committee constituted by each department evaluate and rates training for further improvements. Suggestions of the committee are also included in the report. Most of the students take industrial training in reputed industries like, HAL, CMC, HMT, BEL, BHEL, MARUTI, ESCORTS, EICHER, HERO HONDA, OSRAM, HONDA SCOOTERS, NFL, REFINERIES, POWER PLANTS, RAILWAYS, PRASAR BHARATI, AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA, IOC LTD., (R&D CENTRE), HCL, BSNL etc. situated in National Capital Region (Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida belt).
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology – DCRUST Sonipat an AICTE sponsored Industry – Institute Partnership Cell has been established in the year 2000-2001. It is being strengthened by more and more interaction to nearby industries. It is monitored by a committee consisting of industrialist and faculty members of the college under the Chairmanship of Director-Principal. Consultancy and joint research is being envisaged through the cell. Industrial visits are arranged for faculty and students. To enhance the knowledge of the students and the staff, Lectures of Experts from Industries are arranged regularly. Industrial training is also provided to the staff and students of the college.
