Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College - South Tripura formerly Belonia College is one of the oldest college among 15 Govt. Degree colleges of Tripura .It is situated in South Tripura District and about 100 Km away from Agartala ,the capital of Tripura. It has attained forty five years of existence. It has been in the fore-front among the colleges in advancement of education and other curricular activities. The college has been established on 22nd May 1964 under the affiliation to the University of Calcutta.
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College - South Tripura is located on grassy campus and spread over vast stretch of land measuring about 30 Acres at a stone throwing distance from Indo-Bangla international Border. The campus is about 2.5 kilometer away from the Sub-Divisional town and the atmosphere is serene , free from the heat and dust of the town. The campus provides calm and pleasant environment to the knowledge seeking learners dedicating their life for academic development .The college is competent enough to develop social-economic , moral and cultural values. It enables the learners to maintain the human values. The campus is protected with permanent boundary wall from all sides.
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College - South Tripura has come a long way since its inception to the present standard achieving second position in terms of quality, variety of courses and infrastructures. The NAAC has accredited this college ‘B’ grade at par with M.B.B.College, Agartala. the Various courses on science , Arts and commerce faculties are taught in this college. As many as eighteen courses on the above faculties are available in Science , Arts and Commerce Faculties.
Honours courses are available in 16 different subjects i.e, English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Geography, Political Science, History, Education, Economics Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Accounting . Intake capacity of students in the Honours courses of Arts and commerce departments as approved by Tripura University is between 50 and 60 varying on the nature of subjects while for science departments the approved strength is 25. Total number of students at present is about 2300 and number of faculties is 75 barring the principal . About 31% of the total students comprises ST and SCs.
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College - South Tripura Library is housed in a two storeyed building covering an area of 25,000 sq. ft. There are seperate reading rooms for faculty members and the students. With the generous contribution by the Management and the special interest taken by the Principal, the Library is being equipped steadily and systematically. Our college Library is well equipped in terms of the number of books, backvolumes and current journals subscribed.
Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar College - South Tripura 100 bedded SC/ST boys hostel was inaugurated by the Honourable finance minister , Sri Badal Choudhury on 12th November -2009. The chief guest and inaugurator Sri Choudhury lit the lamp. He appreciated the students with his intellectual deliverance .The principal of this college motivated the students towards the modern professional education system by his highly valuable speech . All the guests and students were in high spirit .
